Buddy Basket Collection to Aid Homeless Veterans is HUGE Success!

Tying-in with the Power of Community Week and National Community Banking Month, Cornerstone Community Bank hosted a “Buddy Basket” drive of basic household items during the month of April to benefit homeless veterans who are moving to permanent or transitional housing. The Buddy Basket project is part of the Veteran Affairs & Rehabilitation Program of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Cornerstone staff assembled 45 Buddy Baskets, and packed-up several additional boxes of items that didn’t fit into the baskets. In addition, we were able to purchase much-needed gift cards with the cash donations. The Buddy Baskets will be distributed by the Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative (MHVI).

It was our first time doing this collection for veterans, and we owe a much appreciated THANK YOU to Cornerstone staff and our communities for making this drive such a big success.
